Mission Statement
Our purpose is to glorify the triune God of the Scriptures through congregational worship, personal discipleship, and benevolent missions.
Statement of Faith
In brief, this represents the core doctrines and teachings of our congregation about God and his Church, all derived from the Scriptures.
God
We believe in the one, true, and eternal God of the Bible, the Creator and Sustainer of all that exists in heaven and on earth. He is holy and unique, unlike anyone or anything else; utterly above and beyond creation. He has all power, all wisdom, and all goodness and is due all glory, honor, and praise. All things happen at his decree and all things will, in the end, result in his glory.
Trinity
We believe God is one in being, yet three in Persons: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Each Person is fully and completely God of one divine essence and will, yet distinct in their personhood. Each is described in Scripture as possessing the character and attributes of God. The Father, Son, and Spirit have eternally existed in the relationship described by the term "Trinity."
The Bible
We believe the Bible (the Scriptures), both Old and New Testaments, to be the written revelation of God, complete and sufficient in all respects. We believe they are human writings inspired by the Holy Spirit, and therefore, are fully authoritative in and of themselves. Their authority lies in being the Word of God for the people of God, and not upon any church, council, or creed. The Bible, as it embodies the very speaking of God, partakes of his authority and power.
Humanity and the Gospel
We believe that humanity, male and female, was created in the image of God. They rebelled against their Creator and fell into sin. As a result, humanity became spiritually dead, totally unwilling and incapable of seeking God. But God, from eternity past, ordained a certain people that would be redeemed through the person and work of Jesus Christ. By faith in this faithful Savior, all who believe and follow him will be bodily resurrected to eternal life in the New Heavens and New Earth. This is described in the Bible as “Good News” or by the term “the Gospel.”
Jesus Christ and Salvation
We believe that God, in His sovereign grace and mercy, regenerates sinful humans by the power of the Holy Spirit, bringing them to new life in Jesus Christ. This Jesus is the Virgin-born Son of God, fully God and fully man, who died in the place of his elect people, providing full and complete forgiveness of their sins by His death upon the cross and giving them certain hope of resurrection from the dead through his own.
We believe that no human work can provide forgiveness of sins; only the finished work of Christ’s death, burial, and resurrection. God grants the gift of faith to believers, which they then exercise by believing in Christ and turning from sin. In this, God justifies the one who believes. This justification, in turn, necessarily results in good works in the life of believers by the sanctifying power of the Holy Spirit. Ultimately, believers will be glorified with Christ by bodily resurrection and eternal life, united with God and his people.
The Church and the Present
We believe Jesus Christ established his Church, which is made up of all God’s elect from every tribe, language, nation, and culture throughout human history. His Church listens to the Bible and obeys it by loving God with all their being and by loving their neighbor as themselves. All who believe in Christ are placed in his body, the Church, and demonstrate their obedience through partaking once in the ordinance of baptism and regularly in the ordinance of the Lord’s Supper. The local expressions of the universal Church are essential, and each believer should be actively involved in such a fellowship of worship, discipleship, and mission.
The Return and the Future
We believe in the bodily return of the resurrected and ascended Jesus Christ, who will come to judge the living and the dead. Until his return, believers are to live lives of faith and obedience, bringing glory to God the Father through Jesus Christ by the power of the Holy Spirit.
